High pole count machines fed in sectorial groups by independent inverters have an inherent redundancy. Therefore operation might be continued in case of an inverter fault with spatially intermittent feeding. In this redundancy operation the stator winding will cause harmonics in the current loading, which evoke flux waves inducing the rotor. This paper shows and compares various numerical and analytical approaches to calculate eddy currents in a solid rotor yoke due to spatial harmonics.
