A greater corrosion stability of the MA8 alloy as compared to that ofVMD10 magnesium alloy in the chloride-containing solution has beendemonstrated using the Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique(SVET). The peculiarities of the kinetics and mechanism of thecorrosion process in the local heterogeneous parts of the magnesiumalloy surface have been investigated. The stages of the corrosionprocess in the artificial defect in the coating obtained by plasmaelectrolytic oxidation (PEO) method at the surface of the magnesiumalloy MA8 have been also studied. The best anticorrosion propertieshave been manifested by composite polymer-containing coatings.
