The evolution mechanism and characteristics of the submerged laminarround jet in a viscous homogenous shallow water layer is investigatedthrough computational modeling. The model was run through rigorousmesh independence check to ensure the reliability of the simulationdata. Two major simultaneous flow mechanisms during the evolutionprocess are discovered and to quantify the observed flow patterns, threenon-dimensional parameters Ln, Rn and dn are introduced as functionsof the non-dimensional time tn. This research further discovered thatmajor influence of injection duration only exists during the developingstage and has no influence on the functional relationships.
