In the paper an application of a method determining a direction of a travelling perturbed wave through a rosette caused by an impact is shown. This direction determines a line between the impact point and the rosette and is estimated using the concept of the principal direction associated with the principal strains. During an experiment the impact on a composite plate with the dimensions 500 mm × 500 mm × 5 mm has been investigated. The measurement system was based on three Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors glued to the plate. In the paper the FBG rosette with novel configuration of sensors have been used for angular localization of strong and weak impacts. The influence of the rosette's attachment to the plate on the procedure for angular localization of the impact is also discussed.
