Exploring the Influence of China's Traditional Culture on Historical Towns' Landscape Characteristics

Geographical surroundings and regional cultures are the two shaping forces in the formation of landscape characteristics of historical cities and towns.Urban construction in ancient China has a strong feature of the display of natural landscape.This is the result of China's wide range of different kinds of natural landscapes as well as its rich traditional culture.This paper,focusing on the scenery characteristics of Fenghuang Ancient Town's landscape, has explored the influence of Feng Shui (Geomantic Omen), China's urban construction theory, and its landscape aesthetics on the formation of landscapes of historical cities and towns, their corresponding characteristics and people's aesthetic taste of sceneries.
