Consideration on Spatial Fomation of Xiguan Dawu(西关大屋) Historical Area in Guanzhou

摘要

This paper clarifies the spatial formation and building types of Xiguan dawu (西关大屋) Area in Guanzhou based on the field studies we carried out, which are mainly consisted of two parts, ie.one is on the distributions of facilities in the area and the other is on measuring house plans and interviews to inhabitants.The one of the objectives of this paper is to discuss the transformation process of street blocks focusing on the relationships among house types, "Xiguan dawu", "Zhutongwu" and "Qilou".
