Reconstructive Study on '田-shape' '口-shape' as 'annexed building' in the 'Vertically-Oriented' layout temple, Preah Vihear Temple, Cambodia

Along the Dangrek Mountains, the main sanctuary has configured on the top of the mountain in Preah Vihear Temple.On the east and west side of the main sanctuary, there are "田-shape" buildings (four-chambers buildings).Also this temple has "口-shape"buildings (rectangular buildings) on east and west side of axis.There is no temple that has 2 pairs of "田-shape"" 口-shape" except Preah Vihear Temple.However, it's not apparent that the functions and features of these "annexed buildings".In Khmer temple history, the architectural styles and functions of the main buildings such as shrines and libraries are not particularly changed, by contrast, vigorous emergence of "田-shape" architectural style is remarkable.From the recent survey on "田-shape" buildings in Preah Vihear Temple, there are some differences between east and west "田-shape" buildings in plan size and construction method.Also, a pair "口-shape" buildings differ in some details.These "annexed buildings" have traces of wooden roof structure.Focus on similarities and differences between east and west buildings to consider the significance of "annexed building".
