摘要

The R&D project on satellite-terrestrial hybrid communications system for cellular phone (called STICS) has beencarried out in Japan. The interference estimation is the key issue for the system design of STICS to realize thefrequency band sharing between satellite and terrestrial link. This paper proposes a detailed calculationmethodology on aggregate interference level received at the satellite caused by huge number of cellular phonesusing terrestrial link. There are two characteristics for the methodology. One is that the interference powergenerated from wide service area in Japan is calculated by dividing the service area into grids (10km of grid size)and summing total power generated from all the grids in which the same frequency sub-band is assigned. Anothercharacteristic is that the realistic simulation is realized by inputting proper values to various terrestrial linkparameters defined in this methodology. The effectiveness of the methodology is confirmed by the calculation ofthe aggregate interference level on a traffic scenario deployed in Japanese islands and sea area.
