Application of TEM technology in water abundance detection in coal seam floor

Water hazards have been in the 2nd place in coalmine accident in China recently. Bigger exploitation depth of coal is, more complicated geological condition is. On the basis of introducing TEM theory, computational formula of resistivity is given. By analyzing the characteristics in research area in detail, it shows that selection of TEM device is a key point to TEM technology. In the water abundant mining area, a device of small multi-turn coincident loop should be used, which is a PROTEM 67D transient electromagnetic system. Finally, water abundance in floor of coal seam 9 is detected by TEM technology in a coalmine in north China. The result shows that 4 abnormal zones can be divided by the water abundance of coal seam floor of the No.9 coal, which are A, B, C, and D zone respectively. The partition of abnormal low conductivity conforms to actuality, and the method is an effective advanced method of detecting the water abundant of coal seam floor.
