Material flow and life cycle analysis of agricultural biomass in Slovakia

Current energy systems are not sustainable therefore new renewable energy sources are introduced. Biomass is emerging as an important renewable alternative energy source. The aim of the article is to use approach of material flow analysis to determine potential energy natural resources in Slovakia with emphasis on agricultural biomass. Based on the findings presented, residual agricultural biomass should produce energy potential of 37.8 PJ. More detailed system-based analysis was done for agricultural production system as a part of an agricultural biomass life cycle.
