Study on foundation stability and treatment measures for high arch dam

摘要

Geological defects always existed in natural foundation in different degree. The foundation treatment is a significant component in dam construction. Based on three-dimension finite element method(FEM), the failure process of dam foundation with weak interlayer is studied in this paper with overload method and strength reduction method respectively, the quantitative results of the foundation safety were gotten by compared with before and after foundation treatment to show the treatment effect. Comparing with the treatment effect of each design schemes, the optimum design scheme was obtained. The computation results show that the finite element method can compute the quantitative results of the foundation safety; the approach in question proves to have obvious advantages.
