Analysis on dam-breaking mode of Tangjiashan Barrier Dam in Beichuan County

Tang Jiashan landslide is a typical high speed bedding glide in a middle-steep dip angle. The whole time of sliding is about a half minute. And its height difference is 540 meter, meanwhile speculated gliding speed is about 20.8 meter per second. The length of the barrier dam which is formed by the high speed landslide along the river is 803.4 meter, the maximum of the width crossing the river is 611.8 meter, and its volume is estimated about 20.37 million stere. On the basis of the barrier dam geological mapping results, combining the result of reconnoiter text which had been got on the locale of Tang Jiashan before earthquake happened, analysis is studied on the geological structure of barrier dam and the stability of upstream and downstream of barrier dam when the dam is in different water level and when afiershock of 7-8 degrees happen. On this basis, this paper is discussed that the mode of the barrier dam deeply. And its analytic results provid some important guidance and advice which had been accepted to the front headquarters of Tang Jiashan barrier dam so that the front headquarters can do some proper engineering measures and make the flood discharge well.
