Six main reasons for casing damage of thermal production wells of heavy oil are found out through the investigation in Liaohe Oilfield and analysis of wellbore stress field. The prevention measures are recommended. Several repairing techniques, including casing patch and connection technique, casing hydraulic shaping technique and reinforcing completion technique by large passage casings without collars, are presented. Field applications indicate that some oil and water wells, which have been shut down due to severe casing damage, can be put back on production. These techniques can be effectively and costly used for solving the problem of reproduction for wells with casing damage during the later production stage of Liaohe Oilfield.
