The privately-owned Ipiranga Group consists of some companies which refine and distributepetroleum products, and others which operate in the chemicals and petro-chemicals fields.The company?s capital is 100% Brazilian. It directly employs close to 5,000 people and generates anannual revenue in the order of US$ 5.3 billion.Within the Group there are four publicly-quoted companies operating exclusively in the oil business:Refinaria de Petróleo Ipiranga, Distribuidora de Petróleo Ipiranga, Companhia Brasileira de PetróleoIpiranga and an associated corporation, Companhia Petroquímica do Sul(Copesul).The company?s petrol service stations and distribution centres are, for example, constructed, at everystage, according to the principles of environmental management and, in the interests of environmentalprotection and emission reduction, they incorporate the mostup-to-date technology and equipment.
