NEW BREAKTHROUGH OF HEAVY OIL UPGRADINGTECHNOLOGY -- INTEGRATION PROCESSES OFVRFCC/RMC FOR PRODUCTION OF HIGH VALUEPRODUCTS AND STEAM CRACKING FEED
An integration process of Vacuum Residue FCC (VRFCC) and Moderate Pressure Hydro-Cracking (RMC), developed by RIPP and BDI, opens a new route for maximizing production of boththe high-value products and the Steam Cracking (SC) feed. VRFCC technology has been put on streamat Yanshan Petrochemical Co. (YPC) in Nov. 1998. A 79.2m% hi-value product (LPG+GSL+LCO)was surprisingly made on the test run from a resid-feedstock of 85.0m% Daqing crude VR content. Nofacility coking was found in the past running. RMC is a renovating moderate-pressure hydrocrackingtechnology, which the end point of the heavy VGO feed is as high as 534 °C, and performance of theRMC catalysts shows high hydrodenitrogenation activity and high ring-opening selectivity. Theprocess highlights the flexibility of product slates—maximum premium mid-distillates yield (38.0m%)and / or maximum hydro-unconverted Bottoms (Hydro-BTMs) yield (50~70m%). Over 30.0m%ethylene was produced from the SC process based on Hydro-BTMs feed. The application of VRFCC / RMC integration at YPC not only covers the shortage of the SC feed for660 Kt/y ethylene production capacity, but increases the total yield of the premium fuel products.
