The field experimetns were done for forecasting coal and gas outburst by using electromagnetic emission(EME). The results show that the amplitude or pulses number of EME has a good correlation with the initial rate of gas emission from borehole and gas desorption index of drilling, it is reliable to forecast outburst by using EME method. Compared with the ordinary methods, the EME method has many advantages, Such as continuous dynamic non-contact prediction, low expenditure, simple operation and high accuracy.
