Stainless steel 304 was coated with a 3 μm multilayer of TiN/TiC by thermally activated chemical vapour deposition. Corrosion of these TiN-coated samples was studied and compared with corrosion of bare substrates in molten carbonate at 923K under MCFC anode gas and cathode gas environment. Both chrono-potentiometry and chrono-amperometry measurements indicate a reduced corrosion of the TiN coated samples. The largest improvement was found under anode environment.
