We report the emission characteristics of two-polymer layer electroluminescent devices, fabricated from poly (p-phenylenevinylene) and a solution-processable poly (cyanoterephthalylidene), driven using pulsed voltages. Current, luminance and response times were measured as a function of drive voltage. A peak pulsed luminance of 10~4 cd m~(-2) was achieved at a current density of 1.5 A m~(-2) was achieved at a current density of 1.5 A cm~(-2), with linear variation of light output with current up to this value.
