The PIARC International Experiment was performed to compare and harmonize the different measuring systems used in many countries. An important result of the experiment was the development of the International Friction Index (IFI). In this paper detailed analyses are described that develop the relationships between skid resistance measurements made by four type of systems: the two Japanese testers (the DF Tester and Komatsu Skid Tester), ASTM trailer and SCRIM which are different measuring methods and participated in the experiment. It is shown that the two components of IFI, the speel constant (Sp) and the friction number (F60) can be predicted from measurements made by these testers. The results of the analysis are applied to pavement management.
