With the growing environmental awareness and the increasing problem of finding new material reserves, there has been considerable interest in certain waste products which may be used as construction materials. Waste aggregates (scalpings) obtained from quarry operations are normally plentiful but cannot be used as base course materials because of their unsatisfactory performance. A research had recently been conducted to investigate the possibility of mixing a scalping with steel furnace slag (SFS), blast furnace slag (BFS), and fly ash for use as a base course material within a flexible pavement system. The experimental work was focused in the mix design to satisfy the grading, durability and strength requirements.
