Design of Cement Concrete Overlay With Staggered Joint

In this paper, a method of staggered joint for cement concrete overlay is advanced. Stresses in overlaid concrete pavement and old concrete pavement are claculated using the three dimension finite-element method. The effects of damage load locations, joint forms, concrete parameters are considered. The interface between unbonded overlaid and old concrete pavement is modeled using three dimension Goodmann model. The results are checked by laboratory experiment. The damage load location for unbonded overlaid concrete pavement with staggered joint is found. The stresses in unbonded overlaid and old concrete pavement are calculated and the nomo-graph is given for a special airplane. The thickness design procedure is suggest.
