Design and Construction of Ohio Turnpike's Third Lane

Ohio Turnpike was opened to the traffic in October 1955. Since its opening to the users, it has been serving the ever increasing traffic in terms of number of vehicles and their size and weight. Therefore, in order to accommodate the increased demand, it was necessary to upgrade the system by adding a third lane in the selected segments of the highway in both directions. This required a fast track design and construction of the additional lane with minimum inconvenience to its users.
