This paper demonstrates the use of a nondestructive procedure for evaluation of D-cracking problems in portland cement concrete (PCC) and asphalt concrete (AC) overlaid PCC pavements at Dayton International Airport (DIA) in the United States of America. The procedure involves the use of the ratio of deflections at the slab edge to the deflections at the slab center, DEF_(ratio). The deflections are obtained from nondestructive testing using a heavy falling weight deflectometer (FWD).
