emission of volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds from hot asphalts in laboratory-scale and field studies

摘要

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (the District) initiated a study for the characterization, quantification and assessment of organic polutants emitted from hot-mix asphalt during asphalt manufacturng and road paving operations. This study investigated several asphalts and bitumen for their emissions through extensive laboratory testing and field sampling programs. A protocol for the sampling and analysis of these emissions was developed prior to the study owing to the complex nature of organic constituents in the emission matrix.
