摘要

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has developed a computer-based model for estimating ozone exposures likely to occur in urban pouulations under current conditions and when a proposed National AMbinet Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) is attained. This modek, the probabilistic NAAQS Exposure Model for Ozone (pNEM/O3), simulates the movements of susceptible population groups through various environmental settings and uses ambient monitoring data and microenvironmental adjustment factors to estimate a sequence of ozone exposures for each group. The validity of the pNEM/O3 model was evaluated by comparing model estimates with personal monitoring data measured using an ozone personal exposure monitor (PEM) capable of quantifying hourly average ozone concentrations to 10 ppb.
