A comparison feld study of protable gas chromatographs (PGC) was conducted during which foru commercially-available PGCs were operated downwind of a source generator. Concurrent colocated PGC and canister samples were also collected and analyzed later by Method TO-14. Each instrument also analyzed audit standards of TO-14 target compountds at five different concentrations in the low ppb range. These were furnished in proessurized canisters. Adverse weather complicated the study. Samples were collected, when possible, during periods of stable wind veelocity and minimal proecipitation. Agreement between PGs and the reference method was imperfect for plume analysis data bacause of weather conditions. Better perforamance was observed when audit standards were analzed.
