Bucket elevator used for slag handling in the cement industry-some problems and recommended solutions

Slag, a by-product in the manufacture of Steel is available in many countries, often causing problems in holding and to the environment. Use of Slag as raw material, in the manufacture of cement has been one area of success, because of benefit of virtually free supply of material ready to be mixed with clinker in good proportion. Using Bucket Elevators for handling dry slag has been no more a challenge than handling cement, or other dry abrasive materials, however, with the addition of little moisture, the performance of the elevators change dramatically, often causing a severe and unusual wear and corrosion of chains and traction wheel rims.
