The steel industry produces a considerable amount of materials as by-products. Most of the by-products are slags, which can be utilized in a many different ways. Modern concept of utilizing steel industry's slags contains scrap separation, cleaning of separated scrap, slag refining and marketing together with controlled research and development work. In this paper common guidelines for modern slag utilization will be presented.
