Liquid slag treatment guarantees high product quality of steel slags

The utilisation of BOF steel salg on fields of application with high quality demands often is limited owing to the insufficient volume stability. The most common method to increase volume stability of the slags is weathering, which requires time and a lot of space. To avoid these disadvantages, Thyssen Krupp Stahl AG (TKS) together with Forschungsgemeinschaft Eisenhuttenschlacken e.V.(FEhS) have developed a process treating liquid slag to minimise the free lime content in the slag.
