摘要

Vermicular cast iron has been successfully used in some specific fields in engineering because of its special physical properties. However, it is difficult to control the quality in front of furnace owing to the narrow range of vermiculizer addition and some other metallurgical effecting elements. In order to real time monitor vermicular graphite ratio of the modified cast iron, the authors developed a vermicular graphite ratio evaluating device based on a new method of fast measuring surface tension of melt. The new device mainly consists of a detector, detector driving mechanics, testing and controlling unit with computer and a wheelbarrow. In the paper, the new method of measuring surface tension of melt, design procedures of main components and experimental results of monitoring vermicular cast iron in front of furnace are introduced and discussed.
