It is modern time that the laterite gold deposit is developed and utilized, but it expanded fast and exercised a great influence. The Boddington gold mine, an earliest discovered laterite gold deposit in the world, has become one of the biggest gold mines in Australia. In recent years, India, Brazil and other countries also have discovered a number of laterite gold deposits. In China, a lot of laterite gold deposits and mineralized zones are discovered in Guangdong, Hunan, Jiangxi Provinces and the middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and the biggest one of them is the Shewushan laterite gold deposit in Hubei province. This gold mine is characterized by lower grade, large reserves, ease of mining and dressing and good economic benefits.
