摘要

A new lightweight weft knitting spacer fabric is put forward for the first time. Fabric not only consists of two surface layers of weft plain stitch and one interlayer of rib stitch structurally, but also is reinforced by both warp and weft Insertion within the surface layers. The knitting principle has been designed clearly and its feasibility has been confirmed by trial knitting on flat bed machine. This new fabric can be used as composite performs and is expected to have many applications, such as car, train and bus bodies, and architectural panel.
