The development and the commercialization of biohydrometallurgy home and abroad are reviewed in this paper. Based on the information of features of mineral resources in the west part of China as well as the central governmental strategy of the Development of Western Area, it has been concluded that the application of biohydrometallurgy will play an important role in developing mineral resources in the west of China.
