摘要

Jojoba ( Simmondsia chinensis (Link) Schndider) is an important shrub for arid and semi-arid areas for its great economic values. Jojoba is unique in plants kingdom since its seeds contains about 50% oil by dry weight, which can be used as a substitute of whale sperm. In fact, jojoba is also a seldom gene source plant for tolerances to abiotic stresses such as drought, salinity, hot temperature and so on. There are lots of researches on jojoba cultivation, breeding and new utilities of jojoba seed meal in recent years. There are fewer reports about molecular genetics research on the tolerances of jojoba to stress environments. Nowadays, Ela Mizrahi-Aviv (2005) reported that salinity inhibits chloroplast post-transcriptional RNA processing . SSH was widely used in the molecular biology study on gene differential expression with many advantages . The aim of our experiment is to construct suppression subtractive hybridization cDNA library and isolate genes regulated by drought from mature jojoba leaves for further study.
