Electrical conductance is one of many physical properties of liquids and moist bulk materials which can be utilized for developing a point level control device. These control devices have developed thru various stages of sophistication including: Electromechanical, Solid State, and Microprocessor based controls. The controls may use an AC or DC electrode potential, a high electrode voltage, or low intrinsically safe levels. Each type of control and sensor potential has its own advantages and disadvantages in a control situation.
