摘要

An integral part of our philosophy of pharmaceutical process development is the co-current investigation of strategies for dealing with the process effluents. An important element in this environmental process development is the study of the microbiological, and hence biotreatability, characteristics of the major waste stream components as well as the complex aqueous wastes themselves. In order to facilitate these studies, a continuous laboratory-scale bioreactor, modelled on conventional activated sludge technology, was designed, constructed, and interfaced with a micro-computer system for continuous data acquisition and control. A schematic of the system components and their digital interfaces is shown in Figure 1.
