The definition of a heavy duty control valve is examined through the undesirable effects of the process medium on a valve improperly applied to the service.rnA solution for these undesirable effects is to control the velocity of the fluid as its pressure is reduced across the valve.rnA means of velocity control is presented and typical applications and examples are discussed.
