Since offshore platforms are designed by component, it is of interest to understand how the performance of the overall system is related to the performance of the components in the jackets and the foundations. The objective of this study is to evaluate the reliability of components and systems for case study platforms using the updated understanding of hurricane hazards and platform performance obtained from recent hurricanes. The major conclusion is that the probability of failures for the overall platform systems decreases with an increase in the number of legs, primarily due to an increase in redundancy in pile foundation systems as the number of piles increases. These results highlight the importance of checking the capacities of the jacket and foundation systems in addition to checking components in design.
