PRINCIPLES OF 'DISCLOSIVE SYSTEMS THINKING'PHILOSOPHICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL REFLECTIONS

Recently “disclosive systems thinking” has been launched as a research project in thernarea of systems methodology. While systems methodology is practice-oriented andrnconcerns human culturally formative activity, the notion of disclosure expresses arnspecific view of this activity, namely as grounded in given potentialities and contributingrnto the unfolding of human life and culture. “Disclosive systems thinking” takes a criticalrnstance with respect both to the idea of human autonomy that has dominated the history ofrnthe systems sciences and to the diversity of systems methodologies that have beenrndeveloped in recent decades, including the entire spectrum from “hard systems thinking”rnto “critical systems thinking.” This paper examines four normative principles that holdrnfor “disclosive systems thinking” and discusses its underlying ontology.
