Aeromonads and plesiomonads were isolated from the intestinal tracts of seven freshwater culture fish and identified based on their genotrypic and phenotypic characteristics. The microplate hybridization method could differentiate type strains of Aeromonas species, plesiomonas shigelloides and related bacteria. DNA-DNA hybridization analysis showed that 65 eeromonad and 56 plesiomonad isolates are 72 to 100
