Xiongcun copper-gold deposit occurs in the west part of the Gangdese porphyry and skarn Cu-Au mineralization belt in the Himalayan-Tibetan orogen and about 53 kilometers northwest of Xigaze City. The Himalayan-Tibetan orogen, product of the Indo-Asia collision, is the best example of the collisional orogens around the world (O'Brien, 2001) and has successively experienced main collisional processes (65-41Ma), late collisional processes (40-25Ma) and post-collisional processes (25-0Ma) (Hou et al., 2006). It is still active now and regarded as an ideal field for understanding ore-forming processes in collisional orogen (Hou et al., 2003). Meanwhile, mineralization studies also improve to understand the evolution of the Himalayan-Tibetan orogen.
