Source parameters for the 2015 Nepal Earthquake revealed by InSAR observations

This paper uses coseismic interferogram as inversion constrained and discovers the details of fault geometric parameters and slip distribute of this earthquake. The source parameters and variable slip distribution are determined by a two-step inversion strategy. The best-fit slip inversion model suggests that the major seismogenic fault is a thrust fault with a strike of ~291°, a dip of ~7.6° and an average rake angle of ~95°. The slip is mainly distributed of 12-18 km in the depth and of 140 km in length. The maximum amount of slip is up to 5.3 m in the depth of 15 km. The accumulative seismic moment was up to 6.5×1020 N﹒m, equivalent to a magnitude of Mw 7.8.
