Gravity and magnetic methods remain powerful exploration tools. In fact, applications of gravity and magnetics are expanding: from regional investigation to the prospect-level. We present in this work two case histories. The first study involved an airborne gravity and magnetic exploration application in the Upper Magdalena Valley, an oil-prolific basin in the mountainous Andean Cordillera, Columbia. The second used gravity and magnetics to help seismic solve the complex salt problem in the U.S. deepwater Gulf of Mexico. Overall, we demonstrate that integration of different, independent methods such as gravity, magnetic, and seismic is a cost-effective, viable, and powerful solution to problems encountered in complex exploration environments.
