Reservoir prediction of land facies clastic rock in GSM region in Central Sichuan

Clastic rock reservoirs of land facies have strong vertical and lateral variation and complex geologic conditions. It is very difficult to predict reservoirs in such a region. However, this type of reservoir is buried shallow and has wide exploration prospects. In the paper, citing Shal reservoir of GSM structure, we present a prediction method for land facies clastic rock reservoir. We build up a geologic model of the reservoir based on geologic and logging analysis. Seismic facies is studied through the research of reflection strength, stratum dip variation and waveform classification. The process of depositional evolution of the reservoir is reconstructed in the light of facies analysis, and the depositional features are made clear. We adopt random modeling inversion technique to invert petrophysical parameters and determine favorable petrophysical zones, then evaluate reservoir conditions with fracture system analysis. Remarkable effects have been gained in GSM region with this technique and commercial production has been achieved in the suggested drilling.
