The modeling of the complex tissue optics of a light-scattering tissue with imbedded objects of irregular shape with variable absorption and acattering properties can be accomplished with a relatively simple computation based on perturbation theory. The general method has been described (M.R. Ostermeyer, S.L. Jacques: Perturbation theory for diffuse light transport in complex biological tissues. J.OPT. Soc. AM. A14:--, 1997). This report describes the specifics of how to implement the method for steady-state light distributions and adds an air/tissue boundary of irregular shape.
