Blending HyperCoals as 5 to 10% of a standard blend (KRS+GO+K9) enhanced the thermoplasticity over a wide temperature range. For PaHPC produced from a noncaking coal, increasing the extraction temperature from 360 to 400℃ increased the thermoplasticity further. In the semicoke strength test, the addition of WWHPC produced from a slightly caking coal gave higher strengths than the standard blend; the same occurred with GrgHPC from a caking coal. The addition of 10% PaHPC extracted at 400℃ increased the strength to the same level as that with GrgHPC. Furthermore, on adding the same amount of HPC, a smaller weight loss occurred during carbonization, and higher tensile strength was achieved.
