A novel carbided Fe/Mn catalyst was prepared by carburization pretreatment in pure CO atmosphere and showed high performance of CO hydrogenation to C_2-C_4 olefins. An olefin/paraffin ratio about 4~5 and a productivity of 57.5 g/ [m~3N (CO+H_2)] were obtained under conditions of P=2.0MPa, GHSV=1000h~(-1), H_2/CO=2.0 at 350 ℃. 300h tests of reaction performance suggested that the C-Fe/Mn exhibited stability. Fe/Mn spinal phase and iron carbide were formed during carburization treatment. The catalyst exhibits high activity and selectivity after removal of free carbon formed during pretreatment; a spinal-like phase Mn_xFe_(1-x)O_4 and MnCO_3 formed at the steady state of reaction, which decided the subsequent catalytic performance.
