On the night of August 24th, 2001, when the crew and passengers boarded flight TS236 bound for Portugal, no-one imagined that they were about to experience an emergency situation, the likes of which would become a topic of discussion around the world. This accident was, as any others, special in itself because of the duration of the "critical time" between the knowledge of the aircraft state and the positive outcome, which remained unknown to the crewmembers for the entire gliding time. I'm sure that this event has raised questions in the minds of a lot of people. How can we not wonder what it was like up there? How would we have reacted had we been on that flight that fateful day? What enabled those crewmembers to pull together and perform such an extraordinary task? What can we all learn from their experience? This is their story...
