The Study on Microstructure and Thermal Fatigue Properties of High-Speed Steel Rolls

High-speed steel (HSS) rolls have excellent wear resistance, anti-rough and thermal cracking resistance properties, its service life is increasing to 3~5 times as compared with traditional counterpart. By using the high speed steel roll, the roll changing frequency, the roll consumption and the production costs were greatly decreased, and also can improve the cross-section precision of rolled pieces and surface quality. It has wide application field and prospects. In present work, the microstructure, thermal fatigue performance and composite bonding interface of HSS manufactured by different processes were investigated, and the effect of manufacture process on microstructure and performance was discussed. The comparative results, based on the microstructure, performance and the complexity of the manufacturing process, shown that the HSS rolls manufactured by CPC have more distinct advantages than others.
