The main service characteristics which provide high endurance of tools and other details from rapid steel are secondary hardness, heat endurance, wear resistance, durability and toughness. With the purpose of further reliability and durability increasing of rapid steel tools the influence of economically-doped rapid steel modification on mechanical and operational properties were researched. As modifiers were chosen the elements with high chemical affinity with carbon (titan, zirconium, niobium, boron), sulfur and oxygen (calcium and rare-earth metals). The researched materials show that stabilizers (titan, zirconium, niobium, boron) provide durability and hardness increasing in steel. Especially it is noticeable at hardness increasing by 23 HRC at 750℃. It is important for knives worked in conditions of high temperatures and mechanical wear. The investigation results show that for cast rapid steel the most effective modifiers are zirconium, niobium and boron.
